Ben originated from Diana Durman Walters Wiggmansburg kennels. This kennel have concentrated on imported German DD dogs since 1979 and believe that excellence from a wide spectrum of top German kennels has given the breed in the uk today some of the very best sires and dams, whose progeny have been field trail winners, excellent shooting companions and very accomplished deer stalking dogs. Bens Sire is Olaf vom Richtof, who was one of the top dogs in the field as well as top sire in North Bavaria. His Dam Erla vom Alten Berg was chosen by Diana as she had completed her verbands gebauchprufung VGP, which tests an experienced trials dog to a very advanced level. Erla gained first place with 318 points, and was brought into the country by Diana in whelp to Bens sire Olaf. This subsequent mating to Olaf was of a dog and bitch at the topmost competitive field trial level, making this import litter of the highest quality. Puppies from this litter, Ben included, all went to working homes. In particular deer stalking owners, who found their pups to be highly accomplished at a very early age. Originally a worked as a falconry dog, Ben now works extremely well on the shoot that Les Keepers and has sired numerous litters. The offspring he has produced are true to type, showing excellent natural hunting and working ability, have kind temperaments, good conformation, and no hereditary health problems.
